For those of us submitting Investment certificate as POF

How many months should it be?

Must it be fixed for Six months earlier like the normal bank statement or can it be any month before submitting

Fixed investments are acceptable as proof of funds. Even though it's not expressly stated by IRCC, I think it's wise to have your funds fixed for 6 - 12 months since that is the common tenure for most fixed investments.

Everything about IRCC I think is based on having convincing, accurate proof and evidence for everything you claim or submit in your application. So, I honestly think it's more logical to have your funds fixed at least some months before you receive ITA. Since it's a requirement by IRCC that you are expected to have AT LEAST most of (or all of) your proof of funds before you receive ITA which is why they probably request for 6-month bank statement of account.

With fixed investments, it may sound awkward to fix your funds after you receive ITA. It's more logical to have done so before your ITA. So, I think it's more credible to have your funds fixed at least some months before you receive ITA. This is my opinion.

You don't need to show birth certificate as an adult... but you can do a gift deed as proof of fund if your parent is sending you the money.

Hope this helps... Otherwise, create a new post or thread and ask your question, as this thread is about Investment Certificate, not POF 👌

No... Birth Certificate is used as a proof of relationship, not POF. You need to get a notarized gift deed signed by your father(as a doner) to you(as a donee).

Ok I have already notarized my gift deed. Is there still need to submit birth certificate showing the relationship that d donor is my dad or only the gift of deed is enough??

OK, great... if you want, you can add your birth certificate with a letter of explanation showing that the person who donated the money to you is actually your father as you share the same surname. That is just to enhance the credibility of your document and proof of relationship.

Otherwise, your notarized gift deed should be enough proof.

Yes, OINP may accept 3 months' proof of fund... But IRCC requires AT LEAST 6 MONTHS. Also, make sure you submit the same investment certificate for OINP and IRCC if that is what you are using as proof of funds. Your OINP and IRCC documentation must be the same. IRCC can obtain your OINP documentation if they want and will raise an eyebrow if they discover you submit a different documentation.
