How to Check Eligibility for PR in Canada via Express Entry

(2154 Views)

To immigrate to Canada through the Express Entry system, you must meet specific eligibility requirements for one of the following programs. Your application will be assessed based on factors like language skills, education, work experience, and more, depending on the program you apply for.

Here are some requirements you must meet depending on the category under which you're applying:

For the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), you must:
  • Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience in a skilled occupation classified under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 0, A, or B level.
  • Meet or exceed the minimum language level of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in English or French in all four language abilities (writing, reading, speaking, and listening).
  • Obtain at least 67 points out of 100 on the FSWP point assessment grid, which considers factors such as your age, education, work experience, and whether you have a valid job offer.

Federal Skilled Trades Program Requirements

For the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), your requirements include:
  • Having at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount in part-time) in a skilled trade within the five years before you apply.
  • Meeting the required language levels for each language ability (speaking, reading, writing, and listening) specific to your job. This is typically CLB 5 for speaking and listening, and CLB 4 for reading and writing.
  • Possessing a valid job offer for a full-time position for a total period of at least one year or a certificate of qualification in your skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.
Canadian Experience Class Requirements

Under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), you must:
  • Have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equivalent in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada within the three years before you apply, under the proper NOC code.
  • Demonstrate language abilities that coincide with the NOC code of your work experience; usually, this means obtaining a CLB 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs or CLB 5 for NOC B jobs.
That is about how to check for your eligibility.
